(Photo by Chris Trotman/Getty Images) The Atlanta Hawks team is a very curious one. On the surface, the team has a very solid core, consisting of Al Horford, Joe Johnson and Josh Smith. And they also have one of the best 6th men in Jamal Crawford. However, the team has little else besides that. Mike Bibby is over the hill and Marvin Williams continues to be mediocre. And the bench outside of Jamal Crawford is as shallow as the cast of the Jersey Shore. Regardless, they have some impressive talent on their squad. Regardless of how bad Joe Johnson’s contract is, he’s still an elite player right now. Horford is one of the most solid PF/Cs in the league on both sides of the ball and Josh Smith is an extremely exciting, athletic forward. And yet they’ve racked up multiple massive losses. How is a team with such a great group of players so unimpressive? I believe it comes down to coaching strategy and a shallow roster.
